Worcester County
G.O.L.D.
The Worcester County DSS Child Care
Room is available when properly supervised, to
customers of the Worcester County Department of
Social Services during the normal workday.
It can be used by children while their parents
are being interviewed, participating in counseling,
attending classes or appearing in court through the Worcester County Department of
Social Services. If the room is not in use
by more than three other children, those in the
DSS waiting room may be invited to play in the
Child Care Room, accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
The
trained childcare volunteers from the Foster
Grandparent Program of Shore Up, Inc. are
committed to the support of a caring and
nurturing approach toward helping children gain
a positive learning experience in the Worcester
County DSS Child Care Room. The Child Care
Room is supplied with manipulative and
educationally stimulating toys, games and books
designed to promote learning as well as
fun. We have made a special effort to
create an attractive, safe setting for the
children.
It is
the policy of the staff not to be involved with
physical or verbal discipline other than
isolating a child in a "time out"
location for several minutes. If a child
is otherwise uncontrollable or severely upset
due to parental separation, we ask that you be
available to make alternate arrangements for you
child's
care.
