               Rainbow Fund

      The Rainbow Fund offers emergency assistance to local families in crisis and vulnerable adults in our community.  Community donations have supported emergency assistance to more than 1,000 people with an expenditure of over $57,000 through the fund in the year 2006.  Some examples include:

Paid for birthday and graduation gifts for foster children in treatment facilities

bullet

Purchased cap and gown for a high school graduate

bullet

Paid for special shoes fitted to a disability 

bullet

Enabled a man with no income to visit the dentist

bullet

Paid for doctor visits, eyeglasses and medical equipment

bullet

Helped many elderly and young people to purchase life-sustaining medications

bullet

Gave money for use at laundromat

bullet

Purchased used car seats so children could be taken to daycare

bullet

Gave $2800 to county schools for student emergencies

bullet

Paid taxi fare to and from medical specialists

bullet

Provided funds for fuel and to avoid utility cut offs

bullet

Purchased air conditioner for disabled mother & daughter raising grandchild and for cancer patient

bullet

Bought emergency clothing for foster children 

bullet

Paid for groceries for families without food

bullet

Purchased special formula for babies

bullet

Provided special awards for foster children whose report cards improved

bullet

Paid the fee for Driver's Education (child's father unable to work)

bullet

Paid the fee for AP exams (mother had no money for talented child)

Purchased Ensure for elderly citizens

Provided funds to enable 10 students to take licensing exam (CNA)

bullet

Provided a portion of rental expenses to avoid evictions, etc.
