Worcester County
G.O.L.D.
Several
years ago, G.O.L.D. started collecting essential
items for babies and organizing a Baby Pantry in
Worcester County. These sites are
currently available to social workers, case
managers, clergy, law enforcement, medical
personnel and other referring agencies.
Parents facing an emergency, involving the needs
of a baby are given the necessary supplies upon
referral.
The Baby
Pantry sites are at Worcester County Health
Department in Berlin (Phyllis Burton) and the
Worcester Count Department of Social Services
(DSS) in Snow Hill (Debbie
Cole). Our pantries have been restocked
with donations numerous times and we feel good to
be able to help the less fortunate who have
emergency needs for things such as:
 | Disposable
diapers |
 |
Wipes |
 |
Ointment |
 |
Pacifiers |
 |
Sleepers |
 |
Blankets |
 |
Bibs |
 |
Bottles |
 |
Cereal |
 |
Formula |
Many local
clubs have supported the Baby Pantry by having
baby showers and collecting supplies for
donation. Many thanks go out to the Ladies
of Hibernians, Ocean City Knights of Columbus Auxiliary,
Berlin Lioness, Kiwanis Club, Beta Sigma Phi-Gamma
Upsilon
The following
are examples of how the Baby Pantry has helped
Worcester County families in 2006:
 |
Foster family taking an
infant into care |
 |
Pregnant mothers with no
resources |
 |
Premie born at
Christmastime |
 |
Emergency diapers to dozens
of moms |
*These were
among the 250 referrals to G.O.L.D.'s Emergency
Baby Pantry since 1999.
